Student Intervention Team's Role in Assisting Students
In conjunction with the Student Crisis Awareness Committee, the Student Intervention Team (SIT) is another effort in support of campus safety and community. The SIT’s primary function will be to take actions on the recommendations of the SCAC and to respond to actual and imminent risk or emergency situations to prevent individuals from harming themselves or others. The SIT will meet once a week and as needed, to respond to the recommendations of the SCAC and to respond to any imminent risk or emergency situations.
The SIT will consist of the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students or designee, including Associate Deans and Assistant Deans (to facilitate the removal of students via conduct, medical withdrawals, and to facilitate mandated assessment for treatment recommendation), the Chief or Deputy Chief of Police (to facilitate restraint, removal or incapacitation of students through law enforcement—Baker or Marchman Acts), Director of Housing & Residence Life (to facilitate removal from University housing) and a representative from the University Faculty.
