Are you a past FAU Alumni? Did you work at the UP, Owl TV or Owl Radio?

Are you a successful journalist, TV producer or DJ? We want to hear what you are up to now. We would like to show the current students what past media members have gone on to do. Send us a brief summary of what you have done and how your experience at FAU helped you achieve that success at this address agomez13@fau.edu.  We might even contact you for a story.

Gabby Alvarado

Multiplatform Digital Producer, NBC Universo and NBC Telemundo

Gabby graduated from FAU in December of 2015 with a B.B.A in International Business & Trade and a minor in Political Science. During her time as an undergraduate student, she started as a volunteer at Owl Radio, quickly became the station's Business Manager, and was eventually elected Owl Radio Station Manager. Following her term as Station Manager, and as a college senior, she was also a news anchor and reporter for Owl TV, a contributing writer for the University Press, and a Programming Assistant and Digital Producer at iHeartRadio, Inc.

At Owl Radio, she hosted and produced the first Spanish on-air show "Blending Homes" and the first Owl Radio morning newscast "Owl Radio News with Gabby Alvarado." Gabby also led the establishment of the 1st Annual Owl Media Day; a day dedicated to showcase the many student involvement opportunities offered by all three student media outlets.

Among Gabby's reports for Owl Radio, Owl TV, and the UP, are the FAU State of the Students Address, the University Budget & Appropriations Committee deliberations, the 2015 Student Government Elections, and the 2015 College Broadcasters Inc. Convention from Minneapolis, MN.

Currently, Alvarado manages all social media production, strategies, and activations at NBC Universo (NBC Universal's Spanish cable network) and is a digital content producer for NBC Telemundo's special events, such as Premios Billboard, iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina, and the Latin American Music Awards. She wishes to keep growing in digital media and content production, and hopes to, through her work, give back to FAU and the community that shaped her into the journalist she is.

"FAU Student Media was the beginning of the realization of my dreams. So, simply put... GRACIAS!" - Gabby
