Eskow-Calis Comments: I obtained a BSW and MSW from FAU, and I look back at my years at FAU acknowledge some of the greatest memories. Advise me when there is a Ph.D program for Social Work as that is something I would love to do. Presently I am a Financial Sercices Social Worker for Jewish Family Services in Broward Cty. I love my work and I credit all my knowledge to the wonderful and outstanding professors that I had when I attended FAU. And yes I do miss attending classes....Thanks for everything! Melinda Name : JoAnn Graham Comments: I have very fond memories of FAU and my wonderful professors and classmates. I currently have a private practice and also work as a part time contract therapist for Catholic Charities. Oh yes, I am happy to say I am licensed at last. Name: Ilene Bayer (Soini Schwarz) Comments: I'm living in North Carolina working in the Intensive In Home field. I provide intense in home individual and family therapy for at risk children and their siblings. I am currently working on becoming licensed in NC. I got married in 2007 to the same man I was seeing while attending FAU. Ilene Name: Melinda Montero Name: Roxanne Grobbel Comments: It's so great to hear all the great things everyone is doing! I am working with All 'Bout Children (where I did my first internship) and I wear many hats. I am program director of the Childcare Community Social and Emotional Wellness Program where we provide therapeutic services for at-risk children, their teachers and families. We also train teachers and community members to become "therapeutic agents". I get to work with and train interns from FAU (one of my favorite parts of my job). I teach a course at Palm Beach State College on Social and Emotional Wellness for Young Children and present workshops on trauma and play therapy through All 'Bout Children's Play Therapy Academy for CEUs. I also have a private practice in Boca Raton where I specialize in Trauma and utilize EMDR along with other techniques. Life is good, my boys are almost grown and I am now the shortest person in my family! Name: Erin Madden Comments: Since I earned my MSW at FAU in 2006, I've become an LCSW and a CAP. Since graduation, I have been working at ADAP Counseling, a private agency in Stuart, primarily focusing on substance abuse treatment. I am also teaching anger management and I work with people who are referred by DCF and EAP as well. I love what I do! Name : Tobi DeLong Hamilton Comments: I graduated FAU with my BSW in Dec. 1993. I have had many jobs related to child welfare and mental health over the years and recently graduated with my PhD from CSU. I am currently teaching in the BSW program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I teach social work practice with individuals and families, child welfare classes, and classes related to violence and family issues. I have been a licensed clinical social worker since 1999 and have specialized in infant mental health since 2005. One memory of FAU that has really stuck with me through the years is spending the night in a shelter, near the everglades with Dr. Campoverde! Name : Annie Chapin (Hockert) Comments: I have moved almost as far as you can and still be in the US. I now live in Carson City, NV. That's about 20 miles from beautiful Lake Tahoe. I work for the State of Nevada, currently I am the Intake Worker for Child Protective Services (I take the reports, I don't investigate them!) I am married to a wonderful guy named Bryan, no children (yet) and have a cute puppy, well dog, named Dutch. Name : Linda Bakke Comments: Hi! I had a great time at FAU -thanks for my degree! I graduated in 2006, but the list only goes to 2005... I currently work as a child abuse investigator in Norway. Its a challenging, interesting, horrible, and exciting job if that makes any sense! Name : Kokie Dinnan Comments: Greeting everyone! Name : Marcel Fort Comments: Well, I am now working right across the street from FAU at The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs. Loving it, except for the insane amount of paperwork!! I have been in supervison for licensure, about 1 more year to go. Name : Ulli Hinrichsen Comments: This web-site is so interesting and such a great tool to stay connected, and to see how our professional journeys have unfolded. After my 2 years clinical internship with an agency in WPB working with victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse as well as the general counseling population, I passed my licensure exam in 2007. As an LCSW, I am currently working with an outpatient diversion program in Fort Lauderdale, providing therapy to child/teen sexual offenders and their families, including cases of TPR/DV. A great clinical experience to look at both ends of the spectrum. Parallel to that, I am excited about being in private practice with location in Delray Beach and Hollywood. As a private practitioner, my focus rests on improving life strategies & self-esteem, relationship dynamics, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress, recovery from trauma. I recently got into the home health care company and love it. Its a great feeling helping people who need any kind of care at home. My company gets Aides, caregivers, or Nurses for patients who need help. Most of my business deals with helping seniors. But I want to get involved in helping children with disabilities as well. If anybody has any suggestions on the most effective way to get involved in that please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. Its great to see so many alumni doing well. All the best! FAU did not have the wonderful Masters Program they have now. I received by LCSW in 2004 and have a private practice working with the elderly in the community. I also work for the Veterans Administration and and the Social Work coordinator for the Mental Health Clinic in Sebring, FL. I had a great cohort / professors, and overall excellent experience with the FAU MSW program. I'm happily married and we have a teenage son. I'm working as Director of Social Services for the Innocence Project of Florida; the only viable innocence project in the state where pro-bono services are provided toward exonerating wrongfully incarcerated people via establishing innocence through conclusive DNA testing. Name : Keith Platt Comments: Well Now most of you know that I teach at FAU, but did you also know that I received ny BSW degree from FAU in 1989. Boy was the department a lot smaller then. FAU has grown and so has the School of Social Work. I'm glad I got my BSW from FAU. Many doors have opened for me because of my time there. My very best to each of you. I am working as a Hospice Social Worker at HospiceCare of Southeast Florida, Inc. I was fortunate enough to be offered a full time position approximately 3 weeks prior to graduation. I love my work. It is very rewarding. Each day is different and the wonderful gifts I receive from my patients and their families make me realize how fortunate I am to be in the position that I am in. I do a lot of clinical work and deal with patients of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds. I have also been doing a lot of conflict mediation with family members as well as crisis counseling.
