Komen Foundation Offers College Scholarships to Children of Breast Cancer Victims

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is one of the nation's largest private funding sources for breast health and breast cancer research. Its mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment. The Komen Foundation is currently accepting applications for its College Scholarship Program which offers college scholarships of up to $10,000 a year, over a four- year period. The purpose of the Susan G. Komen Foundation College Scholarship Award is to assist students who are the children of a parent who has died of breast cancer. The scholarships will be renewable upon satisfactory progress toward the completion of their degree. The scholarship will be awarded to those eligible applicants dedicated to achieving a baccalaureate degree from an accredited state-supported college or university located in the applicant's state of residence. The determination of award recipients will be based on the evaluation of academic achievement, community service, and demonstrated leadership ability.

NASW FOUNDATION
2003-2004 FELLOWSHIP AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
The NASW Foundation is pleased to announce that fellowship and scholarship applications for the 2003-2004 awards are being accepted through December 13, 2002. Eligible NASW members are invited to apply.
The Jane B. Aron Doctoral Fellowship provides partial support to social work doctoral candidates who are engaged in dissertation research in health care policy and practice. One $4,000 fellowship will be awarded for 2003-2004.
The Eileen Blackey Doctoral Fellowship provides partial support to social work doctoral candidates who are engaged in dissertation research in welfare policy and practice. One $4,000 fellowship will be awarded for 2003-2004.
The Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial MSW Scholarships are awarded to master's degree candidates in social work who are interested in working with American Indian/Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino populations, or in public and voluntary nonprofit agency settings. Up to ten scholarships ranging in the amount of $1,000 - $4,000 will be awarded for 2003-2004.
The Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial MSW Scholarship is awarded to a master's degree candidate in social work who demonstrates an interest in, or has experience with, health/mental health practice and has a commitment to working in the African American community. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded for 2003-2004.
