Department of Spanish Studies
Members of our Spanish Language Section

The mission of the Spanish Studies program in the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literature is to help students and faculty build bridges: Puentes across cultures; Puentes that span across ages from the past to the present and into the future; Puentes that cross oceans and borders. Please explore the links below to learn more about our exciting programs in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies related to the Spanish-speaking world.

While our faculty members teach a wide range of courses encompassing most areas of the field, our program has several areas of recognized strengths and specialization. Students looking for courses and thesis advisors in the following areas are encouraged to contact professors for more information on these subspecialties. In addition, our professors participate actively in several interdisciplinary programs in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and we draw on expertise from other departments and disciplines throughout the university community to provide our students a well-rounded education.
