On behalf of the Student Government up in Jupiter, I personally welcome you to our beautiful John D. MacArthur Campus of Florida Atlantic University! My name is Kadeem Ricketts and it is my pleasure and honor to serve you in the capacity of Campus Governor. Here on the MacArthur Campus, our Student Government aims to serve all of the members of our campus’s family. From those who love social and game programming to those who would like to give back to our surrounding community, Student Government provides a slew of opportunities for you to have fun and get involved, both on and off campus! With over thirty registered clubs on campus, from the Resident Student Association to the Debate Team to Enviro Club and the Feminist Student Alliance, anyone can find something that interests them. Even if we do not have what you are looking for, you can start your own club easily!
My cabinet will begin their work in the Fall. My office oversees the departments of Program Board, SAVI (Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement), COSO (Council of Student Organizations), Marketing and the Graduate Council. After an intensive search and hiring process, I believe I have found the best individuals to head each of these departments and, collectively, have formed one of the best cabinets this campus has ever seen. Not only will they continue current campus traditions, but will produce fresh ideas and new initiatives into each of their respective campus departments. If we can be doing something to better enrich your university experience, please let us know how. I am all for constructive criticism and exploring new options, as long as someone is ready to propose them. We are STUDENT Government. Do not be afraid to hold us accountable as we move forward throughout the year.
I am truly ecstatic to be working with this campus in such a pivotal year! It is also a pivotal year on our campus as my administration is completely student-focused and student-driven. One of my major goals this year is to make the office of Student Government completely approachable by all students on campus, traditional or non-traditional, commuter or residential. I encourage you all to stop by my office in the Burrow Student Union, in the Student Resources building, at any time to stop by and say hello. If you are so inclined, share your thoughts on the campus, the university, or anything else. I will always offer an open ear, an open mind, and an open heart on all issues and will help in any way I can. My door is always open and if I happen not to be there, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or by phone to schedule an appointment.
Again, welcome to our majestic campus! I hope you can share in the immense joy and pride that I have for this campus. As always, GO OWLS!
MacArthur Campus Governor, 2012-2013 Academic Year
