University Police by Campus
Florida Atlantic University Police is a full-service law enforcement agency that employs State certified, highly trained, sworn law enforcement officers. Our officers attend regular in-service training and annual updates to ensure compliance with state standards. Officers are responsible for enforcing Florida criminal and traffic statutes, as well as FAU rules and regulations.
The Patrol Division of the Florida Atlantic University Police Department is made up of approximately 35 sworn professional police officers dedicated to maintaining a positive educational environment for the university community.
The patrol division operates with a proactive problem solving philosophy. Our officers are out in the community with their main focus on developing community partnership. This partnership leads to greater crime prevention efforts and assists us in determining community needs. Crime analysis and police officer guidance is used to confront current and anticipated criminal activity. Officers provide response to crimes in progress, calls for service, engage in traffic enforcement activities, investigate traffic crashes and conduct criminal investigations. Many of our officers hold advanced or specialized certifications.
Patrol is comprised of Road Patrol, Motorcycle Unit and the Police Bicycle Unit.
Police Bicyclists Unit
The Police Bicyclist Unit consists of trained officers on police package bicycles equipped to perform both emergency and non-emergency responses throughout the entire FAU Campus. The unit provides detailed patrol through parking lots, Residence Halls, Student Apartments, inner campus and field areas where cars are not able to gain access.
Road Patrol makes use of marked police vehicles along with golf carts and walking patrols, to effectively ensure safety and security for all students, faculty, staff and visitors of the university. Officers enforce traffic laws, investigate and report criminal activity and assist crime prevention in keeping FAU one of the state's safest Universities.
The Florida Atlantic University Police Department Motorcycle Unit is staffed by a full-time police officers. Because of their mobility, motorcycles are a valuable asset for traffic enforcement, traffic safety, and providing emergency response through congested traffic. In addition, motorcycles are highly mobile, fuel efficient and reduce the budgetary costs associated with operating the patrol fleet. The motorcycle officer performs many functions for the department and the university community. As with most police motorcycle units, traffic and parking enforcement on campus is the primary function of this specialized unit. Officers also provide security throughout the campus and patrol in areas to monitor and provide safety and security information to bicyclists and pedestrians in high traffic areas.
Surveillance & Technology
FAU Police Department uses technology such cameras to augment its human resources. There are currently over 1000 cameras deployed across all FAU campuses. In addition, the University has made a significant investment in electronic access control on all campuses.

Community Service Officer
The Community Service Officer program is a student employment program that hires up to 10 students at time. Students who are selected to serve as CSO's are giv
en high quality training, in order to patrol campus on foot, in golf carts and in marked cars. CSO's are another trained set of eyes on campus, watching for suspicious activity, offering battery boost, lock out, crime prevention warnings, and traffic crash response. Parking Service Technicians
Parking and Transportation Services employs approximately 9 Parking Service Technicians. PST's duties include enforcement of parking regulations and to ensure order and safety in the parking lots. PST's are available to assist students, staff and visitors with information, battery boost, and lock outs. They are also trained to be watchful and report any suspicious activity.
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates. The NightOwls program is a student run evening escort service. Crime Prevention Training
FAU Police Department participates in campus wide safety classes and workshops for students, staff and faculty. Officers are engaged in many different Crime Prevention Programs that include a certified instructor in workplace violence, as well as various programs geared to students including Hall programs that focus on student and dorms safety. The FAU Police Department located on the MacArthur Campus in Jupiter, FL is fully staffed and has a 24 hour presence provided by six full time officers. We are located next to the bookstore on the first floor of the Student Services building, Room SR 150W.
The FAU Police Department provides a full range of services including criminal investigations, making arrests, enforcing traffic and parking laws and regulations, and providing crime prevention and community service programs.

Harbor Branch Campus
The FAU Police Department located on the Harbor Branch site in Ft. Pierce, Florida is protected by State Certified Police Officers and/or Police Service Technicians, PST's, who patrol the site and provide a 24/7 presence. As you approach the gated entrance to Harbor Branch, you will be greeted by our PST's at the Welcome Station. The Police together with the PST’s strive to maintain a safe campus environment for all. In enhancing our commitment to safety, we utilize such techniques as active patrol, surveillance and technology.
Our Police Department is in the Aquaculture North Building located on the north-east side of our site.

Uniformed patrol officers respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, taking and investigating criminal offense reports, enforcing all traffic and criminal statutes under Florida law by arresting and/or citing those found violating them, emphasizing crime prevention, and engaging in active patrol to detect and deter criminal activity. Patrol officers and security officers are assigned to one of three shifts. Officers patrol on foot, in cars, and on bikes in order to optimize the public's access to them, as well as the officers' ability to detect and deter crime. Officers are sometimes deployed in plain clothes to target specific types of offenses (liquor violations, drug abuse, etc.).
