The Florida Atlantic University Police Department encompasses a full service police department with a twenty-four hour dispatch center.  The police department is staffed with state certified police officers and a variety of civilian positions.  Our organizational chart reflects the various divisions within the department.

FAU police officers are all state certified police officers that have met the minimum mandatory training requirements and the continuing education requirements required by state statute for all Florida police officers.  All officers receive advanced, ongoing training in excess of the minimum mandatory requirements.  Many of our officers hold advanced or specialized certifications.  Officers are responsible for enforcing Florida criminal and traffic statutes, as well as FAU rules and regulations.

The department provides law enforcement services to all FAU campuses with sworn law enforcement officers assigned twenty-four hours a day to both the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses.  The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute campus are serviced twenty-four hours a day by a combination of sworn officers and civilian positions.  The shared campuses at Ft. Lauderdale and Davie are serviced by joint operations with FAU police officers, Davie Police Department, Broward College security officers and contract security.  The department maintains a close working relationship with local jurisdictions at each of the university campuses.

The department is committed to serving the FAU community.  The department provides a variety of services including a full-time victim’s advocate, crime prevention education, four certified Rape Aggression Defense (a women’s self defense course) instructors, three certified crime prevention practitioners, criminal investigations, and parking services.  The department also has a Community Service Officer program staffed by FAU students.

The men and women of the FAU Police Department are committed to the safety and security of the FAU community.  We are committed to the community oriented policing model.  We are working to provide superior service and to this end we are actively working to achieve accreditation.  This is a collaborative effort that has already seen improvements in our business practices and to the service delivered.

It is my pleasure to lead the committed professionals of the Florida Atlantic University Police Department.  As committed professionals we are interested in constant improvement of department and I welcome feedback from the community we serve.  If you have commitments, suggestions, or complaints, please feel free to contact me at  I hope you find this site useful and informative.
