Peace to Troubled Regions Conference

The 2004 Bringing Peace to Troubled Regions conference was the first collaboration between the Peace Studies Program and the F.A.U. Lifelong Learning Society.  Scholars, policymakers and United Nations officials discussed the challenges and opportunities to promote regional peace.

More than 800 people attended the two-day presentations.

Participants included former U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria and South Africa Princeton Lyman, former United Nations Assistant Secretary General Gillian Martin Sorensen, Fulbright Scholar Mustafa Abu-Sway (al-Quds University), Peace Studies Director Jeffrey S. Morton (Florida Atlantic University), and International Studies Director Harry I. Chernotsky (University of North Carolina at Charlotte).  Lifelong Learning Society Director Ely Meyerson served as conference moderator and chair.
