Rules and Course Information

Established triathlon rules in effect. Also, see the most commonly violated rules & penalties.
IMPORTANT:
Pick up timing chip race morning. Wear during entire race. If you wish to use your own timing chip make sure the number is on your application.

Pre-Race

Go to a race volunteer and have your legs and arms marked with your race number. Wear your assigned race number tag during the bike and run portion of the event.
Relay teams: Runners wear number tag. Other relay members are body marked. Chip is passed from swimmer to cyclist to runner.
Place your bike in the numbered rack which corresponds to your assigned race number. Leave your shoes, sunglasses, bike helmet, etc. with your bike. Only participants are permitted in the transition area and no spectators can offer assistance to the triathletes.

Swim

Check in will begin at 6:15 a.m. The beach will open at 6:30 a.m. Turtle nests are marked and secured. 
Race begins at 7:00 a.m. on the beach (1/4 mile north or south of the north tunnel). Line up in appropriate wave. The race will start in eight (8) waves with minutes (5) minutes between each wave.
The swim cap provided is MANDATORY. Goggles are OPTIONAL, however, strongly suggested. Wet suits ARE permitted.

Swim Course

Enter water with running start. Swim out and around buoy. Keep buoy on left side. Swim north or south depending on the current race morning. Turn around second buoy and return to beach. Run up beach and through the tunnel to transition area. Drinking water is available at beach exit.

Bike

Helmets must be fastened BEFORE leaving on the bike. Failure to fasten helmet will result in disqualification.
No drafting (keep 3 bike lengths away from other riders). Draft marshals will be on the course on motorcycles

Bike Course Directions

Exit park from the north entrance, turn south (right) to the Palm Beach County line (Deerfield Beach) . Turn around, go north to Spanish River Blvd (pass the park). Turn at Spanish River Blvd and go south. Turn right into the north entrance (where you exited the park). Enter transition area very slowly. Watch for other cyclists. Bikes must be returned to the assigned bike rack. Dismount bike and run the bike into the transition area. No bike can be removed until the last cyclist completes the bike course. The transition area will be closed until that time.

Run

Run Course (3.1 miles)
Water available in the transition area and on the course. Run south through the park. Follow the orange cones and signs. Continue south on the walking path. Turn around at Conquina Way (golf course). Return to the park turning left into the south entrance. Follow cones back to the transition and finish line. Return your chip at the finish line. If the chip is not returned, you will be charged a replacement fee.

Relay Teams

Team members must pass the chip to their teammates before starting their leg of the race. Relay teams may consist of two or three team members.
