Fraternity Sorority Life Wellness

We offer a wide range of resources to Fraternity and Sorority Life members and chapters. Many of these resources are done through partnership with the Fraternity and Sorority Life office. To find wellness resources and information provided by our office such as Social Host Training, or  Making Health Choices About Alcohol an Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP), please contact wellness@health.fau.edu or the FSLife Office at fslife@fau.edu.

What is Social Host Training?

Social Host Training is a collaborative effort between Owls Care Health Promotion and Fraternity & Sorority Life, and is intended to empower chapters and their members to host social gatherings with alcohol responsibly. In this training, students will review responsible hosting tips, discuss brief alcohol education, learn how to respond in emergency situations involving alcohol, and take the Ethical Bystander pledge. The training is intended to enhance the community’s risk management abilities. This training is not intended to train students or give them the authority to be licensed bartenders or event security. The desired outcomes of the program are:

  • Understand basic policies, procedures and best practices for hosting events with alcohol

  • Understand the role of a Safety Monitor

  • Agree they have a responsibility to their organization (and greater Greek/university community) to adhere to the policies, procedures and best practices associated with hosting events with alcohol
