What We Do
The college experience is a time to learn a wealth of information, experiment and try new things, build friendships, search for career options and develop the necessary skills for a successful and fulfilling life. A bright future includes making responsible and healthy choices.
Owls Care Health Promotion provides support and resources to help FAU students care for themselves, their peers, and their university community. Owls Care Health Promotion is committed to providing high quality wellness services to students of all socioeconomic statuses, ages, races, ethnicities, national origins, physical abilities or attributes, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities/expressions.
The office offers free one-on-one consultations in all areas of wellness, presentations/workshops on a variety of health related topics, and wellness services including free HIV testing and smoking cessation classes. Additionally, ongoing programs are offered free of charge with a monthly calendar of events available on our website or at the reception desk.
The office has two students groups that provide momentum for the wellness services offered by the department. The Owls Care Leaders (O.C.L.s) are student employees who promote Owls Care and provide presentations on topics including stress, nutrition, bystander intervention, and conflict resolution. The Peer Education Team (P.E.T.) is a volunteer group that assists with programming on health issues that commonly impact college students and co-hosts campus wellness events such as Movember, Love Your Curves Fashion Show, Sexual Responsibility Week, Safer Spring Break, and more!
Stop by the office to see what we are all about! While you are here be sure to fill up a bag of free condoms and grab some stress management goodies at the stress oasis. The office is located in SS8 Room 222 and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
