OIT provides file storage space that is available on the campus network. When you log onto the campus network, via a computer in a lab or office or via the wireless network, you will see various drives labeled M through T, depending on your role in the University. Everyone in the University community has a personal drive (designated as the “M” drive) to which only he or she has access. Your M drive is set up so that one folder, which is labeled “web,” is accessible via the Internet. Any files you put in that folder can be accessed via the Internet, regardless if the files are html, image, or document file types.
To get access to the M drive off campus, follow the steps below:
- Go to http://andi.fau.edu.
- Enter your FAU\faunetid in the "User Home Directory Log-On:" text box to login.
- Select your role.
- Click "Submit".
- On the next page, select "Open" for either the Web Browser View or Web Page View.
- Enter your FAU Network (Active Directory) faunetid and password in the pop-up window.
The URL for those files on your M drive are
- Faculty, Staff, & Students: http://home.fau.edu/<your_faunetid>/web/
Quota for M Drive: 200MB
In addition, there are two publicly accessible (within the FAU network) drives: one to which anyone in the FAU community can read and write files and one which is read access only. Files and folders on this drive are deleted periodically. Do not put sensitive or private material on this drive!
Each college/division also has its own drive to which its members have access; likewise, each department/subdivision has its own drive.
Academic or administrative units may request additional network drive space for special purposes. Below is a list of the drive names and who has access to them:
M drive - Personal
N drive - University wide
O drive - College/Division
P drive - Department/subdivision
Q drive - University wide, read only
R, S, and T drives - Special purpose
Please delete old or unused files.
Broward Faculty & Staff
In addition to space on these network drives, Broward Technology Services provides additional local file storage space for Broward faculty, staff and administrators. Faculty will find this account very useful for large classroom data files since they can store the data from their office PC and retrieve the data on a classroom PC.
