Lecture Capture and Recording Presentation Media

FAU currently offers “lecture capture” and “enriched media solutions” for instructors’ course development.

Lecture capture is an umbrella term describing any technology that allows instructors to record what happens in their classrooms and make it available digitally.  Lecture capture systems offer three important benefits:

1) An alternative when students miss class
2) An opportunity for content review, particularly when obscure topics are introduced or detailed procedures are performed
3) Content for online course development

FAU Lecture capture services are offered in one of two methods:

Automated Lecture Capture – an Echo360 SafeCaptureHD device in one of our on-campus classrooms will record lecture presentations based on the course’s schedule via the Office of the Registrar.

Echo360 Personal Capture – a software based application which lets instructors create, edit and publish lectures, screencasts, tutorials and other enriched media presentations to courses with short videos recorded at their own convenience from their own computers.
