Brahms Festival XXIII
FAU Chamber Soloists
Sun/ Jan 12/ 3 pm,
directed by Leonid Treer. Judith Burganger, Claudio Jaffe, Maria Ward, and Leonid Treer join forces to perform works by Brahms, Dvorak, and Grieg. Suggested $10 donation at the door.
 
Music for Ten (or so)
Rattette
Sun/ Jan 26/ 3 pm, directed by Tim Walters. The Rattette will perform music for its ten-piece instrumentation, and several pieces which require fewer, or more, musicians. A special feature includes music from the Dave Pell Octet, adapted for the Rattette. Tickets $10 at www.fauevents.com
 
Heather Coltman and Amernet String Quartet
Wed/ Jan 29/ 7 pm
Pianist Heather Coltman and the Amernet String Quartet. Enjoy the combined artistry of the internationally acclaimed Amernet String Quartet, Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University, and FAU’s own award-winning pianist, Heather Coltman, as they present master works for piano quintet, featuring Korngold’s Piano Quintet in E major, Op. 15. Jazz Band Wings of Swing and Jazz Combos

directed by Neal Bonsanti. The Jazz Band Wings of Swing continues its popular offerings of jazz standards and new works for big band. Suggested $10 donation at the door.
 
Klezmer East

directed by Paul Green. Paul Green and Klezmer East is back by audience demand! Enjoy exciting renditions of traditional favorites by these klezmer masters. Tickets $10 at www.fauevents.com
 
The Winds of Romance
The Florida Wind Symphony Jazz Orchestra
Fri/Feb. 14/ 7 pm University Theatre,
Kyle Prescott, conductor. The perfect way to enjoy your Valentine’s Day! The spectacular Florida Wind Symphony, a professional Ensemble-in-Residence at FAU, begins the show with romantic classics from Broadway and the silver screen, followed by the swinging Wind Symphony Jazz Orchestra playing hits from the golden age of the big bands! FAU Choral Ensembles

Conducted by Patricia P. Fleitas and Stacie Lee Rossow. FAU’s Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorus and ¡Cantemos! present a variety of choral works in this exciting blend of master works and new music. Suggested $10 donation at the door.
 
Eighth Annual Concerto and Aria Competition Winners’ Concert
University Symphony Orchestra
Sun/Feb 16/ 3 pm,
conducted by Laura Joella. FAU’s finest student performers, chosen through competitive audition, perform works to be announced.  This performance features titled Mobilis in Mobile: Scenes from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, composed by Kevin Wilt, FAU Assistant Professor of Music and Composer-in-Residence. 8th Annual FAU Concert Band Festival
Sat/ Feb. 22/8 am to 6 pm
Featuring a performance of the FAU Wind Ensemble at 12:30pm, the band festival includes 14 concert bands and over 1000 musicians from high schools across Florida in a full day of music-making! All performances are free and open to the public.
 
Mozart and Modern Mash-up
Chamber Winds and Percussion
Sun/March 23/ 3 pm
Seven different chamber ensembles will create a kaleidoscope of sound, including Renaissance dances, elegant Viennese classics, and music of every period since. Something for everyone! Suggested $10 donation at the door.

conducted by Sean Murray. The University Symphony Band will have something for everyone, as they feature a wide variety of exciting musical selections from the standard band repertoire. Suggested $10 donation at the door.
 
Masterworks from Around the Globe
University Symphony Orchestra
Sat / Apr. 5/ 7 pm, conducted by Laura Joella.
Enjoy a splendid evening of classical, romantic, and modern masterworks from Europe and America.  FAU Associate Professor  Alejandro  Sánchez-Samper will be the featured Bandoneon soloist for two works:  “Papillon,” based on themes from Jerry Goldsmith’s music for the film, and "In Bicicletta" from Luis Bacalov's music for the film Il Postino .   Other works include  Mobilis in Mobile: Scenes from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,  composed by Kevin Wilt, FAU Assistant Professor of Music and Composer-in-Residence ; Allegro non troppo from Brahms Symphony No. 2; Verdi  Overture  from  I Vespri Siciliani ; and J. Strauss Jr.’s  Thunder and Lightning  Polka.   Tickets $10 at www.fauevents.com
 
Classical Guitar Society
Sun/Apr. 6/ 3 pm, directed by Ken Keaton. Classical Guitar Society.  The Society presents guitar solos and chamber music by FAU students and faculty. Suggested $10 donation at the door.
 
A World of Dreams
FAU Wind Ensemble, conducted by Kyle Prescott
Wed/ Apr. 9/ 7 pm
The FAU Wind Ensemble opens this powerful concert with Above and Beyond, a new work for winds from one of the great musical minds of our time, Gerard Schwarz. Darius Milhaud’s jazz-influenced Le Creation du Monde then paves the way for the David Maslanka’s epic and emotional A Child’s Garden of Dreams.Suggested $10 donation at the door.
