Rebecca Lautar
Rebecca Lautar
Rebecca Lautar, Professor of Music, teaches violin, viola, chamber music, and string education courses at Florida Atlantic University. She has also served as music director for the Florida Atlantic University Symphony. She currently performs as a member of the Palm Beach Opera and Palm Beach Symphony, and has performed extensively as a member of the FAU Chamber Soloists and Ensemble 21.

Professor Lautar is a strong advocate for string education. She created and directed the FAU String Academy and the A.D. Henderson University School violin programs. She is an active string clinician in public school settings and has served as a clinician, director, and adjudicator for string festivals and competitions in several South Florida counties. Her former students are successful teachers and performers in South Florida.

Professor Lautar’s degrees include a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Western Michigan University, and a Master of Music with Distinction in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from Indiana University, where her teachers were Mimi Zweig and Franco Gulli. She has also held positions as music director and violin professor at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and violin instructor at the Indiana University String Academy in Bloomington, Indiana.
