I’m a second-year student majoring in Biological Sciences. I’ve always been open to learning and accepting great opportunities that life has to offer. During my first year, I connected with a vast amount of people within the Learning Community, CTL, Peer Education Team, RISE, and RUF. I was able to engage amongst those at FAU while focusing on academics and most importantly MYSELF. Being a Freshman I developed a lot in a numerous amount of ways. I’m currently on the Pre-Med track, helping is significant to me. I enjoy assisting others rather it’s through my care, speech, writing, and artwork. I want many to live by my personal quote, “To some, you’re a shining star, to others you may be a dim moon, but believe you’re the sun that brightens up your own day”.

I am a senior here at FAU. I am a Secondary English Education major and will be graduating in May. I come from Jacksonville, FL. My first year here had me all over the place. I wanted to go out and meet as many people as I could, which meant that I didn't take my school work seriously. My first semester, my grades suffered, and my parents were concerned if I could finish my first year successfully. My dream was to graduate from a university and to make a difference. In my second semester, the ACCESS program helped me realize better ways to be successful in college. I changed my major to undecided to English Education because I wanted to make a difference for students. It’s been a long road but my journey through college has gotten me where I am today, and I hope I can help others on their journey as well.

Hello! I am a doctoral candidate in the department of curriculum, culture, and educational inquiry. I came to FAU to pursue my Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction and I have loved my time here! FAU has provided me with many learning opportunities. I currently am a graduate research assistant and have also served as a field trip coordinator. In my research and teaching, I use culturally sustaining and community-oriented approaches to examine academic language and implement instruction that draws upon students’ backgrounds. I look forward to sharing my experiences and interacting with students. I will also gladly share some great travel tips and locations. During my free time, I enjoy taking on new adventures, which often involves some awesome hiking trips! I am looking forward to the new school year and learning from so many new people.

Hey everyone. I have a strong passion for assisting underprivileged students and I aim to break the communication barriers between professional staff and students within the university. I also aim to study ways to improve mental health for university students. I began my journey at FAU in 2014 and started off as an Orientation Leader. From there, I've worked all four years within various departments, such as Housing and Residential Life, the Career Center, the Student Union, the Mentoring Project, and the Center for Learning and Student Success. It's no surprise I became a Higher Education major at the graduate level! I am excited to see all of the places my journey will take me.

I was born in Miami, FL and later was raised in St.Thomas, U.S Virgin islands until the age of four. I graduated from Miami Norland Senior High in 2014. I have an extensive history of my family working in the military and government which help shaped my path for choosing criminal justice as my major. I transfer from Broward college to FAU in spring of 2017. I’m now a proud member and E-Board Staff of CSA (Caribbean Student Association), FAU NOW (National Organization of Women), NSLS (National Society of Leadership & Success) Honor society, Woman empowerment club and now as a Peer Mentor Coach. I’m an energetic, enthusiastic, and young woman of God who's seen not only as a peer mentor but as a "Role Model" to my peers, staff, and family.

I am a graduate student here at FAU in the social work program. I know how hard it is to find your balance in life while trying to maintain a positive and healthy lifestyle. Finding the right peers to share your college journey with is important, so don't be shy! Please, participate in campus activities and meet new people. While in undergrad I was a peer mentor and I volunteered my time around campus and in my community. College is an experience. It's a journey that you will remember for the rest of your life. Be kind to yourself and always remember to shoot for progress NOT perfection.

In addition to peer coaching, I also work with the CLASS Office and co-teach an SLS class for out-of-state students. I am an Executive Board member of NAACP, an Educate Tomorrow Scholar, as well as a Representative for the Boca Raton House of Representatives. I am a senior majoring in English Education. I was born and raised in Oakland Park, Florida. I started attending FAU in 2015 as a Communications Major, however, I changed my major pretty quickly to English Education when I realized I would really like to work in education and help students. I love to read books, write, travel, go explore nature parks and see live music. College can be stressful and a lot of work. But I believe as long as you do your best and work hard, you can make it. And I am excited to be here to help students along the way!

I first realized that I wanted to study theatre in college when I was eleven years old. I'm from Tamarac, Florida, which is about a half hour away from the Boca campus. I chose to attend FAU to have a great college experience that was close enough to home to stay near my family. I currently work as a Peer Coach, the Associate Director of Program Board, and an Elite Owl! I've also had experience working with New Student Orientation, the Career Center, and Housing and Residential Education. I love being involved in the campus community as a way to meet new people and constantly learn, and if you ever see me on campus feel free to say hi!

As a senior at FAU, I am pursuing a major in Political Science with a minor in Communications. I transferred to FAU with my AA from Broward College in Fall 2017. Currently, I am a NextGen Fellow and a Student Ambassador for the College of Arts and Letters, along with being a Peer Coach within the Mentoring Project. I love dogs, good Netflix shows, politics, and art. Upon the start of my academic journey at FAU, I found myself searching for places to fit in where I would be able to have a fulfilling college experience while also being focused on the pursuit of my degree. My goal as a Peer Coach is to help students find a balance between their social and academic lives to ensure that their stay at FAU is as positive as possible.

Hello! I am finishing earning up my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University at age 20. I was dual enrolled at PBSC when I was 15 and began earning credits in every Spring, Summer, and Fall semester from then until I was 18. At that point, I had enough credits to have earned my AA and had the correct classes to transfer into FAU's accounting program with peers often older than me. All of this was quite a shock for me and I struggled for a time. Since then I have learned how to deal with those struggles and have begun to improve since then. I hope that the lessons I learned the hard way I can give to others without as much trouble.

I am a Management Information Systems major here at FAU. I am apart of Progressive Black Men Incorporated (PBM), which is a community service based organization that seeks to eliminate the negative stereotypes placed upon males of African descent. My freshman year here at FAU was by far my most difficult, but thanks to the support system I found here at FAU, I am on track to graduate. Something that at one point seemed like a long shot. My experience at FAU has molded me into the person I am today, a person who is resilient and optimistic towards any challenges that the future may hold.

I am involved with Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach on campus and am also an FAU student employee with Campus Recreation. I love music, spending time outdoors and traveling. I am a Psychology major. I came to FAU from Miami, Florida, and hope to make an impact in some way through government--nationally or internationally! My long-term goal is to make it as an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist, but I am more than happy to alter my aspirations as long as it means I enjoy what I'm doing. My freshman year, I immediately joined Student Government and climbed my way to the Boca Marketing Director by sophomore year. Juggling Student Government and the position of PrOWLer Co-Assistant Director under the Student Alumni Association with being a full-time student meant that I could go as far as I take myself. I proudly claim dancing and watching anime as an interest of mine, but don't let that stop you from emailing me at dennishasmit2017@fau.edu ... Go Owls!

I am a Masters Student here at FAU studying Information Technology and Management. I have also worked as an IT support and Project Manager in the Industry. My personal mantra is "Motivating People and Saving Lives". For fun, I enjoy African and Latin dances. I love travelling and the scariest thing I have done on my visits is bungee jump off the De Pier Scheveningen, Netherlands, 60 meters above sea level and 300 meters away from the shore. My Faith and Family are 'numero uno' in my life.

I know college experience can be new and exciting but also daunting. I know how hard it is to find your balance in life while trying to maintain a positive and healthy lifestyle. As your peer coach and just like 'Siri', I can help you in your journey to successfully navigate through your college experience.

Hi, I am a biological science major looking to go into the medical field. Movies and learning new languages are my thing. I am a sophomore who intends to double major in Accounting and Finance. I am from Tampa, Fl where prior to coming to FAU, I attended a community college for a semester. I'm a brother of the Elite Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi Co-Ed Business Professional Fraternity Incorporated here at Florida Atlantic University. Furthermore, I currently serve as the Vice President of The National Association of Black Accountants this upcoming school year. This summer, I had the opportunity to create and foresee a basketball program (Creativity Lies Within Dreams) at a local Young Men's Christian Association. It was a great experience and while at school, I will continue to contribute back to the program by creating curriculum and bridging new opportunities for the members to continue in their development both physically and mentally.
