FAU University Club to Host ‘Casino Royale’ Fundraiser

BOCA RATON, Fla. (December 17, 2013) – The University Club of Florida Atlantic University will host “Casino Royale,” a casino gala fundraiser event, with proceeds benefitting FAU student scholarships and programs. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Via Mizner Country Club, 6200 Boca Del Mar Dr., in Boca Raton.

The evening will feature dinner by the bite; casino-style gaming including blackjack, craps, slot machines, Texas Hold’em and roulette; and VIP lounge with open bar. The casino gaming tables are provided for entertainment purposes only by Casino Party Nights Florida Inc. A grand finale raffle will take place at approximately 10:40 p.m. with prizes provided by generous donors. There is no purchase necessary to enter the raffle, but entrants must be present to win.

“The University Club is dedicated to the advancement of FAU’s academic and research programs and student scholarship fund,” said Alene Brewer, president of the University Club. “We look forward to hosting the ‘Casino Royale’ event, which will provide an evening of entertainment while helping us achieve our fundraising goals.”

FAU Trustee Ronald Nyhan, Ph.D. ’94 and JoAnne Greiser Nyhan will serve as the honorary chairs of the event. Nyhan is an associate professor in the School of Public Administration in FAU’s College for Design and Social Inquiry, and president of the Faculty Senate. He developed the first master of nonprofit management program in the Florida State University System. Prior to joining FAU, Nyhan was president of the international consulting firm Landrum & Brown, Ltd. and a principal in Booz, Allen & Hamilton.

Joanne Greiser Nyhan recently retired from a career as a public sector manager and consultant with Broward County government, where she led teams in improving business processes, facilitated interagency agreements, and directed the initial project to integrate and automate diverse county business processes. Previously, she held positions with South Florida Water Management District, a Washington, D.C. consulting firm and the City of New York.

Since its founding in 1976, the University Club, a branch of the FAU Foundation, has been creating a brighter future for students through its donations to the University. To date, the Club has raised more than $400,000 for student scholarships and more than $500,000 for FAU Libraries.
