Press Release:

FAU to Present Anton Chekhov’s ‘The Cherry Orchard’

BOCA RATON, Fla. (September 17, 2013) – The Department of Theatre and Dance within Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters presents “The Cherry Orchard,” a classic tragicomedy by Anton Chekhov. The play runs from Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 13 in the Studio One Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

“The Cherry Orchard,” directed by Des Galant, is about an aristocratic Russian woman and her family as they return to the family's estate right before it is about to be auctioned to pay the mortgage. The family’s desire to hang on to life as they know it clashes with the socio-economic work forces in Russia during the turn of the 20th century and the rise of the middle class.

Shows are on Fridays at 7 p.m.; Saturdays at 1 and 7 p.m.; and Sundays at 1 p.m. General admission tickets are $20; students, faculty, staff, alumni and children under age 12 may purchase tickets for $12; and group prices are available. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-564-9539 or at
