FAU Calendar of Events for the Week of March 26, 2012

BOCA RATON, FL (March 26, 2012) – Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:
'What Feminism Means to Me' Exhibition of Art and Poetry

The free exhibition runs through Friday, May 4 on the first floor west of FAU's Wimberly Library, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.  Library hours are available by calling 561-297-3770 or at www.library.fau.edu/geninfo/hours.htm. "What Feminism Means to Me," an exhibition of art and poetry that explores interconnectedness, empowerment, abuse, gender stereotypes and expectations, is being sponsored by the Women's Studies Graduate Student Association and MFA students in the Department of Visual Arts and Art History in honor of Women's History Month. 



FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science to Host Open House and Guest Speaker Peter J. Davoren

This open house will be held on Friday, March 30, from noon to 4 p.m., in FAU's Engineering East Building, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Cheryl Halle at 561-297-1399 or challe@fau.edu .

The FAU Department of Computer & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science faculty, staff and graduate students will showcase ongoing research through tours of the instructional labs, demonstrations, research presentations and information about academic programs offered. Registration begins at noon in the lobby where refreshments will be served. The program will begin at 1 p.m. in room 106 (Alumni Hall) with welcome remarks by Borko Furht., Ph.D., department chair.  At 3 p.m. and also in room 106 will be a presentation titled, "Smart Buildings," by keynote speaker Peter J. Davoren, president and chief executive officer of Turner Construction Company.  Turner Construction Company is the leading general builder in the U.S. and has worked on more than 600 "green" building projects.
