FAU Calendar of Events for the Week of February 4

FAU Memory and Wellness Center Offers ‘Mindset’ Classes
The classes are currently available to the public and take place on Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. at FAU’s Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. FAU’s Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center presents “Mindset,” a series of six classes for individuals with early-stage memory disorders and a care partner. Classes are taught by trained instructors who cover topics such as exercising the brain, creating healthy habits and improving communication. The classes are based on clinical research showing that certain kinds of brain exercises may help individuals function better over time.
‘Born from Folding: The Art & Science of Origami’ Exhibition at FAU Explores Japanese Art of Paper Folding
The exhibition is free and open to the public through Monday, Feb. 25,during regular library hours at FAU’s Wimberly Library, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to midnight; Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, contact John Cutrone at 561-297-0455.
“Born from Folding: The Art & Science of Origami” is an exhibition of beautiful geometric designs created by paper folding artists around the world. Many of the exhibition’s artists are also featured in “Between the Folds,” a 60-minute documentary by Vanessa Gould that explores the importance of the traditional Japanese art of paper folding and its connection to math, science and engineering. The film, the Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts’ inspiration for the exhibition, features artists discussing their obsessions for origami tessellations. Screening dates will be posted throughout the exhibition under the “events” listing at www.jaffecollection.org. The exhibition is on the first floor in the lobby atrium and at the Jaffe Center, where a portion of it can be viewed from outside of the center during regular library hours. The art inside of the Jaffe Center can be viewed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Library visitors can park in the metered spaces at the library.
