FAU To Host ‘Fabulous 4th’ Celebration
Festivities include Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ a Stage Show, Concert and Fireworks
BOCA RATON, FL (June 17, 2010) – In collaboration with the City of Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic University will host a “Fabulous 4 th” celebration on Sunday, July 4. The festivities will start at 4 p.m. with a special staging of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in the Studio One Theatre on the Boca Raton campus. This will be followed at 6 p.m. with various family activities and games in the fields just east of the Studio One Theatre. Then, at 6:30 p.m., the stage show “Red, White & Blue Spectacular” will bepresented by ZMC Entertainment . At 7:30 p.m., the Florida Wind Symphony,under the direction of Dr. Kyle Prescott, will present a patriotic, hand-clapping musical tribute. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” which is presented by the department of theatre and dance in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, will be performed by professional actors alongside of FAU graduate students. Tickets for the play are $15 and $20, and admission to the other events is free. There will be food vendors on site. All parking is free, and there will be directions to parking areas from the Glades Road entrances to campus. FAU’s Boca Raton campus is located at 777 Glades Road, ½ mile east of I-95.
