FAU’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities Enhances Lives of Individuals with Autism

BOCA RATON, FL (April 23, 2010) – Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) is heightening community awareness about autism during the month of April, also recognized as National Autism Awareness Month.

CARD’s focus is to enhance the lives of individuals with autism by helping them become valued members of their communities, enabling them to learn, work, communicate and socialize.  CARD offers support within the natural contexts of homes, residences, child care programs, school and communities at no charge.

With a main office on FAU’s Boca Raton campus and a branch at FAU’s Port St. Lucie campus, CARD now serves more than 2,200 families of children with autism.  The FAU Center is one of seven legislatively-mandated autism resource centers in Florida.
