FAU Presents Lecture with Author and Educator Dinty W. Moore
BOCA RATON (April 6, 2009) – Florida Atlantic University’s department of English presents author and educator Dinty W. Moore with the lecture “Defining the Undefinable: What is ‘Creative’ Nonfiction, Where Did it Begin, and Where is it Going?” on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. The lecture will take place in the Majestic Palm Room in the Student Union on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road, and is free and open to the public.
A National Endowment for the Arts fellowship recipient, Moore has guest taught creative and nonfiction seminars across the United States and in Europe. In addition to editing the internet journal “Brevity,” he is on the editorial board of the literary magazine “Creative Nonfiction” and is coordinating editor for the anthology Best Creative Nonfiction by W.W. Norton. He has written numerous books, including Between Panic and Desire, The Truth of the Matter: Art and Craft in Creative Nonfiction and The Accidental Buddhist: Mindfulness, Enlightenment and Sitting Still.
The lecture is made possible through an endowed gift by the Lawrence A. Sanders Foundation in memory of Sanders, a best-selling South Florida novelist who died in 1998. Sanders wrote The Anderson Tapes and The First Deadly Sin.
