FAU Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society Presents Author Martin W. Sandler

            JUPITER, FL ( April 8, 2008) - Florida Atlantic University’s Lifelong Learning Society will present a lecture by author Martin W. Sandler on Tuesday, April 22 at 9:45 a.m. The lecture will take place in the Lifelong Learning Society complex at FAU, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter.

Sandler’s lecture Island of Hope: The Story of Ellis Island and the Journey to America,” focuses on the challenges faced by families who left their homelands and braved a long voyage, new language and new culture in America. Sandler will discuss the steps of being processed at Ellis Island from 1892 through 1954 and then will explain what happened to the immigrants once they settled in the United States.

Sandler is the author of 66 books, including Pioneers, Cowboys, Immigrants, Presidents and Civil War, which are Library of Congress books. He has been nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize and is a television producer and Emmy Award winner.
