FAU’s Sixth Annual Seaside Shindig Raises Scholarship Funds and Honors ‘Wave Makers’
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL ( March 14, 2011 ) – Florida Atlantic University’s National Alumni Association will host the sixth annual “Seaside Shindig” on Saturday, April 2, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at FAU’s Dania Beach (SeaTech) campus, 101 N. Beach Road, Dania Beach. The Broward fundraiser is a catered event celebrating a commitment to higher education while recognizing the “Wave Makers” who have shown exceptional dedication to the University and its Broward campuses.
This year’s honorees are the Law Offices of Becker & Poliakoff as the corporate partner; the Town of Davie as the community partner; and in celebration of FAU’s 50th Anniversary, an outstanding alumnus from each decade will be honored at the event. Additionally, the “Pearl of Broward” is a special award presented each year to an individual who has shown leadership, advocacy and support to FAU. This year, John Pisula will receive the prestigious award, designed and donated by six-time event sponsor P.J. Rossi Jewelers.
Honorary Chair Virginia “Ginny” Miller and event co-chairs Kathy Molinet ’95, ’04 and Kathy Kohler ’01 are pleased to spearhead this event, which raises money to support student scholarships and alumni initiatives at FAU. Annually, the event is attended by more than 200 top business and community leaders, FAU alumni and friends of the university.
