FAU Business Professor Receives Award from U.S. Navy Supply Corps Foundation

BOCA RATON (March 5, 2010) – Dr. Eugene Miller, an adjunct professor and executive-in-residence at Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business, recently was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from the United States Navy Supply Corps Foundation (NSCF).

“I was honored to receive this award from the Navy,” Miller said. “I learned a great deal about business from the 23 years experience in the Supply Corps.”                                                                                        The NSCF annually recognizes distinguished former Supply Corps officers whose accomplishments following military service have continued to bring credit to the Supply Corps. These achievements represent professional growth and the enhancement of skills that NSCF implemented in its training of Supply Corps officers. Miller joins other distinguished alumni of the Navy Supply Corps including John Whitehead, former chief executive officer of Goldmann Sachs; Roger Stallback, famous NFL football player; Regis Philbin, celebrity television host; J.W. Marriott, chief executive officer of Marriott Companies; and H.A.G. Lafley, former chairman of Proctor and Gamble.

Miller served three years in the U.S. Navy and more than 20 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve, retiring as a naval commander. He was appointed to the FAU business faculty in 1991, and later created the College’s “Executive Forum” series, in which chief executive officers from various companies deliver lectures as part of the master’s in business administration program. In 2007, the College dedicated its board room in honor of Miller for his outstanding service and support to the College.
