FAU Presents Debut of Klezmer East Band

BOCA RATON, FL (March 5, 2007) – Florida Atlantic University’s School of the Arts presents the debut of the new group, Klezmer East, on Saturday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in the University Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.   General admission is $15 at the door.   FAU students, faculty, staff and alumni may obtain free admission with ID.

Klezmer East was formed by clarinetist Paul Green and keyboard artist/arranger Bob Weiner.   The group is dedicated to performing both traditional Klezmer classics from Europe and more contemporary Jewish pieces from the United States.   The program, which will be announced from the stage, will consist of traditional favorites from the European and American Klezmer repertoire.

Klezmer East, the newest ensemble-in-residence at FAU, consists of musicians Bob Weiner, keyboards; Seth Merlin, trumpet; Dave Levitan, trombone; Roy Fantel, drums and Sunshine Raddock, vocals.

The concert is presented by the department of music in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.   For further information, call 561-297-3820.   For further information on other concerts at FAU, visit www.fau.edu/music.
