  • FAU/UMMSM Regional Medical Program - $4,700,000
Builds on the 2006-07 funding request for the second year of the four-year, $10 million plan for expanding the current partnership with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSM) to cover all four years of medical education. (Supports Strategic Plan Goal 2.)

  • Recruit and retain world-class graduate students - $1,556,250
Addresses FAU's "stipend lag" behind other universities in Florida and the nation by increasing stipends for incoming graduates to competitive levels and by providing upgrades to the highest performing graduate students already enrolled here. (Supports Strategic Plan Goal 3, objectives 4-1, 4-2.)
  • Expand Library Collections and Services to Support Research - $1,100,000
Increases the number of journal and periodical subscriptions in emerging fields of knowledge and expands access to electronic collections and databases that support research in emerging fields in the life sciences, medicine, engineering and technology, the social sciences and the humanities.
    (Supports Strategic Plan Goal 3, objectives 1, 2, 3.)
  • Funds dedicated to the Strategic Missions of Branch Campuses - $1,080,124
Implements the first year of a five-year development plan for FAU’s partner campuses. (Supports Strategic Plan Goals 1, 2, 3, 4.)
  • Increase Technology Resources and Applications Supporting Teaching and Research - $1,000,000
Increases and decentralizes support for the use of technology and technology applications in teaching and research.
(Supports Strategic Plan Goal 5, objective 1.)
  • Center for Teaching Excellence and Student Success (CTESS) - $800,000
Follows a start-up allocation in last year's budget for the creation of a comprehensive program of tutoring and mentoring services for students. (Supports Strategic Plan Goal 1, objective 3-8.)
  • Expand Operations of the Memory and Wellness Center - $200,000
Enables the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center to provide additional services and outreach to the growing population of seniors who suffer from chronic and progressive memory loss. (Supports Strategic Plan Goal 4.)

The schedule of events while in Tallahassee includea reception for University friends and alumni, a performance by the FAU Vocal Troupe in the Senate chambers and legislative appointments. Displays inviting visitors to "Experience FAU" will adorn the 2nd floor of the Capitol.
