“The Journey: A Dialogue between Artists,” featuring work by artists Elodia Fanjul and Esther Gordon, runs through March 2. The exhibit is part of the Art in the Atrium series. A “Meet the Artists” reception was held on Jan. 11. Family, friends and guests of the University enjoyed light refreshments and a question-and-answer session with both artists.
Elodia Fanjul was born in Havana, Cuba, and came to the U.S. as a political refuge at the age of 13. She grew up in South Florida, and married John Fanjul in 1969. They have three children and five grandchildren. Fanjul studied art in high school, in Miami and West Palm Beach, and at the New World School of the Arts, Miami. She is currently studying at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, under Dennis Aufiery. This is her first public show.
Esther Gordon, a native of South Florida, began actively pursuing a career in art after retiring from BellSouth in 1991. She received an associate in arts degree from PBCC and is currently working toward a bachelor of fine arts degree at FAU. She has studied at the Armory Arts Center and is an active member of the North County Art Association. Her artwork has been on display at many area businesses and restaurants, including PBCC’s Eissey Campus Theater and the Jupiter Town Center.
The exhibit, located in the Student Resources (SR) building, is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on the weekends from noon until 5 p.m. For more information, call 561-799-8105.
