OBJECTION!
CURRENT, CONTENTIOUS AND CONFUSING
LEGAL BATTLES
Irving
Labovitz, J.D.
DESCRIPTION: Popular television
shows and films on the law have made the legal profession seem exciting and
glamorous. Discover how real law can be even more stimulating than its dramatic
facsimile. This fast-paced program will focus on selected current, highly
publicized, volatile and contentious legal issues presented in cases pending
before, or just decided by, federal and state trial and appellate courts,
as well as by the U.S. Supreme Court. Each week, multiple current “hot
button” legal issues will be examined and discussed. This series will
equip the informed participant to be more conversant about the law, and to
learn the likely immediate/long-term personal importance of pivotal judicial
determinations upon each and all citizens.
[Prior to the first session, participants
are invited to attend a pre-session primer in the Barry and Florence Friedberg
Auditorium on the FAU Boca Campus at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9,
2013, outlining the structure of federal and state appellate court processes.]
