Full-Body Scam:
Airline Security in an Age of Uncertainty
David H. Brown

EVENT DESCRIPTION: As  the last remaining member of the FAA task force that developed, tested, and verified original airport screening, David Brown can see why the current procedure is targeting the wrong passengers. His task force recommended characteristics-based profiling as the first step which helped identify potential skyjackers. Testing showed that one-half of one percent of passengers needed to be profiled. Had his group's recommendations for step one not been removed, it could have well caused all 19 of the 9/11 terrorists to miss their flights, changing the course of history. This lecture is both provocative and enlightening, disclosing aspects of airport security not generally known. Mr. Brown can discuss the back story of the task force, and its eventual bureaucratic demise.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: David H. Brown was an Ohio newspaper reporter for almost 15 years. He later was a  Public Information Officer for the Department of Justice, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation and the Government Printing Office during the next 24 years, including being the Press Officer for the  FAA anti-skyjacking task force from 1969-70. In 1976, he founded the National Association of Government Communicators and was its first president.  He is a WWII combat infantry veteran and an Army Reserve officer for 28 years, retiring as LTC in 1978. He spent the  last 12 years of 2-week duty in the Pentagon.  He earned a Bachelor's degree in journalism and a Masters in public relations. He has published nine non-fiction/fiction books.
