News of the Week: The Beat Goes On
Frank Cerabino

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Each week, attendees will take a deeper look into a few of the news stories that have dominated the news. The lectures will include TV clips and other online videos and charts to dovetail with the news topics. During the eight-week lecture series, attendees may propose future discussions about news topics that interest them. This is a very fluid,  interactive program, with each week's discussions guided by the flow of international, national, state and local news.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Frank Cerabino grew up on Long Island, NY, and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He spent five years in the Navy, reaching the rank of lieutenant and serving as a public affairs officer aboard an aircraft carrier. He worked at the City News Bureau of Chicago before leaving the wire service to take a job with the Miami Herald in 1984. For the next five years, Mr. Cerabino covered the police, government, legal and education beats for the Herald. He eventually became the newspaper’s federal court reporter in Miami. Mr. Cerabino joined the Palm Beach Post in 1989. He started writing columns for the newspaper during the William Kennedy Smith trial. In 1992, he became a full-time local news columnist and now writes four columns a week. He is an adjunct professor of journalism at FAU and has taught a similar series for LLS Jupiter.
