Ayn Rand and the Transformation of American Values
Ronelle Delmont

EVENT DESCRIPTION: One of the most popular novels in history American publishing is Atlas Shrugged. The book's author was born "Alicia Rosenbaum" in 1905 to Jewish parents in Czarist Russia. How Alicia Rosenbaum transformed herself into an ideological, cult-like "goddess" named Ayn Rand is the focus of this thought-provoking and informative lecture. Rand's legendary fame, which has grown immensely in recent years, becomes more understandable as Ronelle tells the story of the author's tumultuous life - with photos and film clips - in order to illuminate her struggle to be recognized and understood as a world class philosopher.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Ronelle Delmont was born on the Lower-East-Side of NYC and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn. She attended Hunter College as a music major and received a BS from Florida International University in International Relations. Her eclectic background includes: owning an antique shop in Greenwich Village: owning an entertainment agency: working for Pan-Am Airlines and lecturing for Osher Lifelong Learning. Since 1996 Delmont has been a book reviewer and lecturer in South Florida. She is currently writing a book on the subject of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping and trial. She is the publisher of an in-depth, controversial website on that subject (www.lindberghkidnappinghoax.com) She is married to Parisian-born singer and agent, Daniel Delmont.
