Safe Zone Allies

The Safe Zone Ally Training Program educates students, staff and faculty on issues relating to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) community and fosters allies throughout our campuses. The goal of Safe Zone is to create a safe and inclusive campus environment for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Hundreds of FAU campus community members have participated in this program and often identify themselves with a Safe Zone magnet in their working or living spaces.

Over the course of the three-hour Safe Zone Training Program, participants will:

  • Gain awareness about issues that impact LGBTQ youth and adults.
  • Explore the effects of these issues on LGBTQ youth, their lives and their health.
  • Explore the concept of human sexuality.
  • Receive resources to create a safer FAU for LGBTQ individuals.
