The Safe Zone Ally Training Program educates students, staff and faculty on issues relating to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) community and fosters allies throughout our campus. The goal of Safe Zone is to create a safe and inclusive campus environment for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Hundreds of FAU campus community members have participated in this program and are often identified by a Safe Zone magnet in their working or living spaces.
Over the course of the three-hour Safe Zone Training Program, participants will:
Be provided with awareness about issues that impact LGBTQ youth & adults.
- Explore the effects of these issues on LGBTQ youth, their lives and their health.
- Explore the concept of Human Sexuality.
- Be provided with resources in order to create a safer FAU for LGBTQ individuals.
Please visit out “Events” Page for more information on upcoming Safe Zone Training dates. The trainings typically take place during November in the Fall semester and March during the Spring semester.
