The RA is a member of the Residential Life student staff and assists with a designated section of student rooms in the halls or apartments. The RA is responsible for actively working with the residents to develop a sense of community through ongoing communication, program development, and modeling an enthusiastic commitment to an environment that is conducive to personal, social, cultural, and intellectual growth.

The Desk Assistant (DA) position is highly valued by the Department of Housing and Residential Life at FAU. We count on our Desk Assistants to provide outstanding quality customer service to the students, staff, faculty, and visitors of FAU. As a Desk Assistant, your primary role is that of a resource person. You serve as the primary contact person for visitors, students, and most importantly to our residents. As a resource person, you help your customer find the information they seek.
The Safety Assistant (SA) position is a new position within our department that serves to monitor the safety and security of the residence halls between the hours of 10pm-8am. The Safety Assistant will sign in guests, verify IDs of anyone entering the buildings in the late evening hours, and contact RAs and other staff in times of emergency. These student employees truly serve as the front line responders and monitor the entrances to our buildings throughout the evening.
