Applying for Admission to the University Honors Program

The University Honors Program has selective, competitive admissions and is intended for students entering college as freshmen.  We invite a select group of incoming freshman students to join the University Honors Program. Invitations are based on the student's  high school grade point average and test scores.

The majority of the students admitted have a minimum score of 26 ACT/1800 SAT (all 3 sections) and a high school grade point average of 3.8.

For those students admitted to the University who are interested in participating in the honors program but did not receive an invitation, we highly encourage you to apply.

The following items are needed to apply to the University Honors Program:

  • The University Online Application
  • The University Honors Program Supplemental Application
  • An Academic Writing Sample (recommended but not required)
    The writing sample should be a typed assignment written for a recent class. The original work with grade and teacher comments is preferred. The writing sample should reveal a high level of communication and critical thinking. It should be an academic paper, not a creative writing piece.
  • A Resume
    Applicants are required to submit a resume of their extracurricular activities, community involvement, honors and awards, and employment.
