Three new faculty and two visiting faculty join the Honors College in the Fall of 2006:
Veljko Dragojlovic, Associate Professor of Chemistry, received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of British Columbia and joins the Wilkes Honors College having taught at Nova Southeastern University. He has authored or co-authored 9 scientific articles and 8 articles on chemistry education.
Fangchun Li, Assistant Professor of Asian Studies, is a Ph.D. candidate in History from U.C.L.A., who received his M.A. and B.A. in Sociology from Beijing University. Dr. Li's current research is on land reform in Northern China during 1946-8. He has participated in the collection of oral histories of social life in 20th century rural China. He has taught courses on the Chinese Revolution, and on law and culture in late imperial China.
Laura Vernon, Assistant Professor of Psychology, received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Vernon taught at Auburn University before joining the Honors College. She did postdoctoral research in trauma and anxiety disorders, and interned at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Her research includes fear response to spiders, and affects of attributions and trauma characteristics on emotion.
Mary Yudin, Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish, received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Penn State University. Dr. Yudin taught at the University of Mary Washington before joining the Honors College for 2006-2007. She was a previous recipient of a Fulbright award.
Martin Kenneally, Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics, received his M.Econ. Sci. at the University of Dublin, Trinity College, and is Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Center for Policy Studies, National University of Ireland, Cork, where he has taught economics for over 30 years.
