May 2003 - present HARBOR BRANCH OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE: Ft. Pierce, FL Project Manager / Sr. Ocean Engineer for Center of Ocean Technology

Primary point of contact and Project Manager for Raytheon / government DOD contracts for the design, fabrication and ocean deployment systems. Successfully marketed, negotiated and delivered several large contracts.

1986 - Dec. 2002 GLOBAL MARINE SYSTEMS: (General Offshore Corp.) Ft. Lauderdale, FL

1998 - Dec. 2002 Project Manager / Field Engineer (Submarine cable installation)

Responsibilities included assisting commercial managers at the pre-contract stage in developing technical solutions, scheduling and resource / cost estimating. During project execution performed all aspects of project planning, management including team leadership, customer and upper management communications and reporting, risk management, scheduling, cost monitoring and control

1996 - 1998 Offshore Installation Manager / Field Engineer (Submarine cable installation)

Responsibilities included detailed planning, documentation and engineering, subcontractor evaluation and selection, site and vessel mobilization of resources. Offshore work included management of shipboard project team and subcontractors, quality and safety control, daily reporting, and customer interface.

1986 - 1996 Project Engineer (Offshore marine and research operations)

Responsible for project engineering and design of deep ocean moorings, shipboard deck equipment and cable handling systems. Acted as Port Engineer for numerous vessel shipyard periods. Supervised the day-to-day operations of shore support and marine personnel for government marine support contracts.

1983 - 1986 CDI MARINE COMPANY: Jacksonville, FL Structural / Marine Engineer (Military and commercial ship design)

Assigned to both the Naval Architect and Marine Engineering departments. Structural and mechanical calculations and designs were to government military specifications, ABS and USCG regulations. Team leader for ship check inspections.

1981 - 1983 GENERAL DYNAMICS, EB DIVISION: Groton, CT Construction Engineer (Submarine new construction)

Assignments included drawing review and approval, power plant performance calculations, technical support and coordination for shipyard construction activities and resolution of shipyard construction problems.

Accomplishments

Selected by the European regional office to develop and write company plans and procedures for new market (worlds largest offshore wind farm) power cable installation project. Retained as Operation Manager where project was completed ahead of schedule under adverse conditions.

As Project Manager successfully delivered numerous major submarine cable installation and burial projects in the $ 0.5 M to $ 5 M range, on schedule and to customer satisfaction.

Recognized for hands on and problem solving abilities by the European and Asian regional offices, consequently have acted as Offshore Installation Manager for numerous submarine cable installation projects through out the Caribbean, South and Central America, Europe and Asia.

Dispatched as back up Project / Site Manager to assist in the investigation and resolution of a serious and costly cable installation problem.

As Project Engineer received letter of commendation from the Department of the Navy, NUWC Div., MESA Program Manager for participation in the successful and accurate installation of a proto type underwater acoustic array.

Selected and acted as the Quality Manager to develop documentation and prepare the US regional office for ISO 9002 registration.

As Project Engineer designed and implemented a unique cradle and transport system to deliver a 120 ft. scale model submarine from Virginia to Idaho.

As Design Engineer participated in an intense and successful structural weight reduction program for a new class of Navy guided missile cruiser.
