College is a total living and learning experience, incorporating both academics and personal growth. As you will soon discover, academic and personal growth can be enhanced by involvement outside the classroom in student organizations and activities. You chose to attend FAU for many reasons. These might include the quality of academic programs, its location in a metropolitan area or proximity to family and friends. Now that you are here, you will find many opportunities to make your college experience even more fulfilling. No matter what time of day or which day of the week it is, there is something in which you can get involved.
By joining one of FAU's student clubs and organizations, you can make the campus feel like a smaller place. You have the opportunity to make new friends outside the classroom. You can develop leadership, management and interpersonal skills by taking on responsibilities within your student organization. Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities and events designed to create and foster community spirit on the campus. These activities include social gatherings, recreation and intramural events, lectures, musical and comedy performances and other fun activities. The Program Board on the Jupiter campus is primarily responsible for planning and implementing most of these programs on the campus. The Student Affairs Campus Recreation Department is responsible for planning and implementing a variety of recreation and wellness activities and programs.
