Fraternity & Sorority Recruitment at FAU
Membership in a fraternity or sorority is through a mutual selection process, known as recruitment or intake. Participating in recruitment provides an excellent opportunity to meet people and learn more about the fraternity and sorority community but in no way requires you to join a chapter.
Here is specific information on Recruitment/Intake:
Interfraternity Council – Fraternity Recruitment
Fraternity Recruitment Kick Off is an opportunity for potential members to get information about the Interfraternity Council (IFC) Fraternities and their recruitment schedule, by visiting individual chapter tents.
College Panhellenic – Formal Sorority Recruitment
Formal Recruitment is a week long event that uses a formalized process to select new members each September. At Florida Atlantic University, the 5 Panhellenic sororities participate in Formal Recruitment that is hosted by the College Panhellenic Association on our campus
You can learn more about the Recruitment process through the College Panhellenic Association's Recruitment Information Booklet which is re-published once a year (a new one will be created for Fall 2013 and can be found here)!
Formal recruitment gives you the opportunity to meet and really get to know each of the 4 sororities, learn more about sorority life in campus, and make that final decision on which sorority is right for you. By signing up for Recruitment you are not obligated to join a sorority, but will be provided a chance to know much more about all the sororities on campus.
During Formal Recruitment, you will be guided and assisted by sorority women, known as Recruitment Counselors, who have disaffiliated from their sorority to assist with Recruitment. The Recruitment Counselors, along with the Panhellenic Executive Board, organize recruitment and are there to guide you throughout the week to help and assist you in making the week as successful as possible.
After each day, you will be asked to narrow down your choices and the sororities will be narrowing down their choices as well. Panhellenic Recruitment provides for a mutual selection process that benefits both the women and the sororities at the same time. We have an exciting process at Florida Atlantic University and look forward to seeing you throughout the week and working with you.
