Upcoming Events!

FAU’s student newspaper the University Press (the UP) is seeking FAU student contributions for a special issue planned for September 16, 2014 on study abroad. Students who would like to share a personal story about their recent experience abroad ---e.g. culture shock moments, tips on adapting to new places and customs, why you decided to go to the program you did, descriptions of favorite foods and special locations in your study abroad country, and so on. Also any students who received scholarships and want to share how that helped you go abroad are invited to share that story. Interested students can contact Jillian Melero at the UP at JillianMelero@gmail.com or let the OIP staff know of your interest and we will link you to Jillian.

Teach English in Piedmont, Italy! 
A new partnership between FAU and the Rete delle Scuole Autonome del Piemonte is offering a work experience as an intern in Italy to teach English in local high schools. Interns will also have the opportunity to study in Italy – courses of Italian or in Italian – at the Universita’ del Piemonte Orientale. Open for current students and recent graduates with at least a bachelor’s degree from FAU.

Deadlines:
Monday September 8, 2014 for the term starting January 2015
Wednesday April 1, 2015 for the term starting August 2015

U.S. Student Fulbright Scholarship Program Open for Applications for the 2015-2016 Academic Year
Eligible FAU students or recent graduates may apply for a Fulbright grant for independent studies in one of over 120 countries, or to teach English. Awards vary by country but generally cover all living and study costs including transportation and insurance for the 9-12 months abroad. Info sessions will be held in late summer. Check here for dates and times.
 
FAU campus deadline is 5pm, September 16, 2014.

Study Abroad Advisor Amanda Frederick visits the Jupiter campus every semester to advise students on the various study abroad opportunities available to them.  If you would like to schedule an appointment with her during one of her advising sessions, please contact her at afrede11@fau.edu or 561-297-1080.  Appointments are held in the Student Resource Building (SR), Room 217.

If you're reading this, it probably means you don't have a passport yet – that makes you just like most Americans. In fact, 70% of your fellow citizens don't have a passport. But why run with the crowd? Make a statement: get a passport.



The fact is, if you don't have a passport you can't leave the U.S. to go anywhere – not even to Mexico or Canada.
