FAU Scholarships

The following is a list of general FAU scholarships.  Please click on the application link to fill out the application online (in .pdf format) . IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ EACH SCHOLARSHIP CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE EACH APPLICATION IS COMPLETE BEFORE SUBMITTING IT FOR CONSIDERATION.  If selected to receive any scholarship, applicant will receive an email to his/her FAU email by mid-August .

1. Please use a separate application for every scholarship that you
  are applying for.  Also, attach appropriate documentation for each scholarship.
2. All scholarships listed on this website are awarded through the
  applications available here.
3. Scholarship criteria listed is based on University Policy in conjunction
  with the intent of the individual donor.
4. The academic criteria and the the financial need criteria noted
  in the various scholarship offerings are used as minimum starting points for consideration. These criteria may be applied more rigorously depending upon the size and qualifications of the applicant pool.  Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee selection.
5.

All FAU Scholarships will ONLY be calculated and disbursed for FAU  

  credits. Consortium and Concurrent Enrollment will not be considered when calculating required credits for scholarships.
6. As part of the awarding process, and in recognition of
  donor commitment to the University, applicants selected as recipients of awards will NOT receive funding until a "Thank-You Letter" has been submitted prior to the term in which the award is scheduled to be paid.
7. Financial need is determined by the Free Application for Federal
  Student Aid or "FAFSA".
8. Scholarship awards may impact other sources of financial
  assistance administered by the University.
                        

Students must be able to provide proof of eligibility upon request.

ALUMNI LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP .  
Children and grandchildren of FAU alumni (former students who have earned at least 32 credit hours at FAU) are candidates for this award. Applicants must be enrolled as sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Candidates MUST provide the name and their relationship to the FAU alumna and the approximate dates that person attended FAU.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

ELEANOR R. BALDWIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND.  
Supports students in the FAU College of Education. Applicants must be in their senior year of college or graduate students and majoring in EDUCATION. Undergraduates must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and Graduate students must have a 3.5 minimum GPA. All eligible students must be taking some classes on the FAU Boca Raton campus. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit with consideration given to scholarship, leadership and leadership potential in the field of education and then for financial need. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.  

 

FLORENCE BAYUK EDUCATIONAL TRUST SCHOLARSHIP .
The scholarship is awarded to Graduate or Undergraduate students in the fields of Law, Medicine, Advanced Economic Studies or Human Resources. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.  

 

HELEN AND ROBERT BERO .
This scholarship awards a student with demonstrated financial need who is involved in community service or activities outside of school. The student must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Please provide a description of these activities. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

HARRIET C. BOETTCHER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP .
This scholarship is based on financial need with preference given to students of Asian heritageDeadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

DANIA BEACH SCHOLARSHIP .
The recipients of this scholarship must be full time degree- seeking undergraduate students, admitted to FAU. The applicants’ primary address must be from the City of Dania. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years of undergraduate study as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION INDIAN SCHOLARSHIP . Available to members of Native American tribes living in Florida. MUST provide proof of Tribe Registration along with the General Scholarship Application. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.  

 

DO UNTO OTHERS SCHOLARSHIP .
Open to outstanding FAU students who meet the following criteria: Majoring in Law and Society, Pre-Law, Pre-Med, Psychology, Teaching Social Work, Guidance and Counseling, or Nursing in the following FAU colleges: Arts & Letters, Education, Science, Nursing, Business or Social Design. Eligible students must be full time, with a 3.25 GPA and must demonstrate financial need. Please include an essay on your philosophy of life including accomplishments. In the essay also include a statement of volunteer work and also a statement of your healthy lifestyle (NO drugs, alcohol, smoking …etc.).  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.


EDGEWATER POINTE ESTATES SCHOLARSHIP
.  This endowment provides scholarships to full or part time Edgewater Pointe Estates employees (those who work 12 or more hours per week). The selected candidates must be employed by Edgewater Pointe for at least 90 days prior to the time of the scholarship application, with an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or greater or a graduate GPA of 3.0 or greater. The application MUST include a statement from Edgewater Pointe Estates stating that the applicant is in good standing with Edgewater Pointe and meets the scholarship criteria. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

DAVID AND SANDY LOWE FACULTY AND STAFF LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP . This endowed scholarship will be awarded to a qualified child or grandchild of an FAU current, retired or emeritus faculty and/or staff member. The selected candidate will be enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student with a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Candidates MUST provide the name of the FAU employee and their relationship to this employee. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

THOMAS F. FLEMING, Jr. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP .
Awarded to students enrolled in the College for Design and Social Inquiry or enrolled in the College of Science for the 2013-2014 academic year. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

ADAM JAY HARRIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.
This scholarship is in memory of a former FAU pre-med student, Adam Jay Harris.  Selected recipient will be a full time undergraduate student pursuing a pre-med course of study. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

HICKS SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT .
Awards are given to degree seeking undergraduate students who are residents of Ft. Lauderdale and enrolled in the Charles E Schmidt College of Science, the College of Business, or the College of Engineering and Computer Science.Students must be enrolled full time with a 3.0 GPA.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

MINNIE HYMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND .
Awarded to a student who is a sophomore, junior or senior with demonstrated financial need. Award is renewable upon application. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

INSURANCE FOR STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP FUND .
This scholarship requires a 3.0 GPA, demonstrated financial need, and a 500 word essay stating what the student plans to do with his/her education and why the student should receive this scholarship. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

KREYOL LAMBERT & ROMAIN HATIAN SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP.
This fund provides a scholarship to a student active in Konbit Kreyol. Preference is given to students of Haitian decent. The student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have college credits, have a minimum 2.8 GPA., and have demonstrated financial need. The student must be registered for a minimum of 9 credits. Please describe your Konbit Kreyol involvement.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

ANGELOS LANGADAS SCHOLARSHIP .
This scholarship is to be awarded to needy students who are making progress with education. Preference is given to students of Greek heritage (please describe) with demonstrated financial need. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

MILTON AND GLADYS MEISNER SCHOLARSHIP FUND .
This scholarship is awarded to students in architecture, ocean engineering or pharmaceutical programs that may be in place. Recipients must be in their junior or senior year and demonstrate financial need.Scholarship may be renewed for one year.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

DANIEL A. & MARTHA F. MICA SCHOLARSHIP .
The award is given to a student who demonstrates leadership capabilities (please describe in detail) and financial need. The recipient must be enrolled full time with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

BOETTCHER MILITARY VETERAN SCHOLARSHIP .
This fund was established to help support an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits. First preference will be given to US military veterans having served active duty or the child of an active duty member of the US military. Second preference will be given to a child of a fire fight or police officer killedin the line of duty. Please include all pertinent information. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

EMILY AND ROBERT MURDICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP .
This award is available to a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA who demonstrates financial need. Preference is given to U.S. born African Americans or American Indians. This scholarship is NOT available to students in the College of Education. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

EMANUEL NEWSOME SCHOLARSHIP FUND .
This scholarship was established to assist a talented Education major. Student must have at least a 2.7 GPA, be enrolled in 9 or more credits, and have demonstrated financial need.   Student must demonstrate leadership via extra-curricular activities such as sports, student activities, music, volunteerism, student government, etc.(please describe in detail). Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

MILDRED AND RUDY REIS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP .
Recipient must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student with demonstrated financial need and a minimum of 3.25 GPA. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

REID NIX ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP .
Award preferences will be given to:

1.

Students who have shown leadership potential by obtaining the rank of

 

Eagle Scout via the Boy Scouts of America. Please attach a copy of your

 

Eagle Scout Certificate. 

 

-OR-

2. “Returning” undergraduate students, 25 years or older, who are returning to
  college after an absence of two or more years. Explain. 

All applicants must have demonstrated financial need, a minimum 3.0GPA and must be enrolled in at least 6 credits. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.  

 

ADELAIDE R. AND JOSEPH G. SNYDER SCHOLARSHIP .
An award is given to a full-time student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

ST. ANDREWS ESTATES N. RESIDENTS ORG. & KING SCHOLARSHIP .
This scholarship is provided to students who are currently working at St. Andrews Estates North for at least the past 90 days. The candidates must have a 3.0 GPA or greater with preference given to current High School seniors who will be attending FAU in the Fall semester. Awarded students must have demonstrated financial need and must continue to work at St Andrews Estates North for a minimum of 192 hours per semester while in school under this scholarship. The applicant MUST attach a statement from St. Andrews Estates to the scholarship application stating that the applicant is in good standing with St. Andrews Estates Pointe and meets the scholarship criteria. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.
 

 

JANICE AND JULIAN WEISS ENDOWMENT .
This fund was establish to aid students whose life experiences or family challenges make higher education opportunities difficult, or students who have unexpected financial needs or unusual circumstances that arise during the year and impact the student’s education. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Along with the General Scholarship Application an essay is required explaining financial situations, career goals and special accomplishments including how the student has overcome obstacles in life. Awards are renewable as long as criteria are met. 
 

WOODFORD ZIMMERMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP .
Recipients must be 25 years or older and show financial need. The selected student must be enrolled at least half time either as undergraduate or graduate student. Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

FAU MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP .
Must be enrolled in the same college as the deceased student. Must have a 2.5 GPA or better.   Application must include a letter of recommendation from a FAU advisor or Faculty member.   Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNDERGRADUATES & GRADUATES
Be enrolled at least ½ time, undergrad-6 credits; graduate-5 credits; Must be seeking a 4 year degree or a graduate degree. Have a minimum gpa of 2.5 or higher; Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.  also need to provide a letter of recommendation from an instructor, employer or advisor.  The letter must be the original, CURRENT, and NOT from a relative.  UWC members and Student Govt. members receiving tuition reimbursements are ineligible.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.  

 

PEPSI COLA SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to 1st bachelor undergraduate students ONLY who are U.S. citizens or resident aliens, in a degree-seeking program or in a teacher certification program, who are enrolled at least half-time, demonstrates financial need and who has a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Entering freshman students are also eligible. With the application, submit a letter of recommendation from an academic advisor, faculty member, instructor or principal.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

SENATOR KEN PRUITT SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to two undergraduate and two graduate students who have extensive leadership accomplishments and have demonstrated committment to civic duty via participation in student activities.  See below for eligibility criteria.   Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

    

Undergraduate Student Requirements:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.000
     
  • Students must submit an application LISTING THEIR LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES IN HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE AND THE ACADEMIC YEAR THEY OCCURED.
     
  • Submit a CURRENT letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor of a campus club or organization in which they participated.
      
  • Submit an essay of at LEAST 500 words explaining what they have accomplished with their leadership skills and how it benefited their classmates.  It should also include a statement as to how they value the role of higher education.
            

Graduate Student Requirements:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.000.
     
  • Students must submit an application LISTING THEIR LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES IN COLLEGE AND THE ACADEMIC YEAR THEY OCCURED.

GUGGENHEIM ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
.  

Students must be degree seeking and pursuing a graduate degree.  Preference will be given to former FAU athletic students pursuing a graduate degree.  Priority will be given to former members of the FAU football team.  Followed by former members of ALL FAUs women's athletic teams.  Additional preference will be given to graduate students seeking a degree in the College of Business.  Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.

 

DEERFIELD BEACH LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
Freshmen Scholarships for “at risk” students graduating from a public high school in Deerfield Beach. A minimum 2.0 GPA and financial need is required. Consideration will be given to first generation students.   Deadline to submit applications to the Office of Student Financial Aid is May 1, 2013 by 5:00pm.  To apply, click here for the application.
