GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR PREP COURSE
Tuesday & Thursday from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
This 9 week course is offered to anyone interested in becoming a group fitness instructor. Learn the fundamentals of teaching various group exercise classes including: cycle, kickboxing, yoga, pilates, strength training and more. This course will give you the written and practical knowledge to become a great leader in group exercise and will better prepare you to become a nationally certified group fitness instructor. The course will meet twice per week; one day devoted to lecture, and one day devoted to practical instruction. Topics include: basic anatomy and exercise physiology, nutritional considerations, flexibility concepts, and training concepts specific to various formats of group exercise.
Enrolled students will have the opportunity to take Campus Recreation’s written and practical final exam to then participate in our interview process. Any instructors hired through this preparation course will have one semester to take and pass one of the approved, nationally accredited certification exams.
Enrolled students will also receive 20% of exam costs for the ACE group fitness exams. Click here to purchase materials.
Registration opens Aug. 26 and closes Sept. 13. Course starts on Sept. 17.
