Julie Longo was hired as the Special Events and Marketing Coordinator, for the Department of Campus Recreation, June, 2011. In her day-to-day operations, Julie oversees, along with her Graphic Artists, the marketing efforts of the programs and services for the department. She manages the information that is posted on the website and the Campus Recreation Facebook and Twitter accounts. Julie will also be the point person for special events in the future. In February 2012, Julie took on the responsibility of Membership Services as well, changing her title to Coordinator of Marketing and Member Services. She will be in charge of handling day to day operations of memberships, lockers, rentals, and registrations.
Being creative, well-balanced, and adaptable to change is a key to any marketing professional. Julie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing with a Minor in Sport Studies from Central Michigan University, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and her Master’s Degree in Sport Administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
Prior to entering the administrative side of Recreational Sports, Julie participated in Club Basketball At CMU. Her freshman year, she and other girls started the Club Basketball Program and developed a strong respect from other Club Presidents and within the NIRSA and ACIS Basketball tournaments. She participated for her four years at CMU, and her Senior year was elected President of both the Men's and Women's Club teams. Her team placed 3rd at the NIRSA Nationals in 2007 at The Ohio State University. They also competed in the 2009 NIRSA Nationals in Detroit, Michigan where they placed 4th. Julie hopes to find a basketball team in South Florida to start her coaching career.
