FAU and Miami Dade College Agreement Allows Easy Transfer of Credits for a BA Degree in Multimedia Studies
by Roberto Santiago & Alberto Fernandez | Tuesday, Oct 20, 2020Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Miami Dade College (MDC) recently signed an articulation agreement that allows MDC students graduating with an associate’s degree in Animation and Game Art and Game Development and Design an easy transfer to pursue a bachelor of arts degree in Multimedia Studies with a concentration in Film, Video and New Media at FAU.
Students at the Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex would complete four semesters and then enroll at FAU to complete the remaining 5 semesters of the bachelor’s degree. FAU will accept major-specific courses completed at MDC to count towards the Production and Contexts area of the major. This also includes a waiver of the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies requirement that students take 12 upper division credits outside the School but in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. Students may need, however, to complete additional upper-division coursework to meet FAU’s minimum 45 credit minimum.
FAU’s multimedia courses focus on game design, film and video production, interactive multimedia, and emerging technologies. To see samples of current and past student projects, click here. For information about the new articulation agreement, contact Fran McAfee at mcafee@fau.edu.
