Yara Zbib
Wednesday, Jul 01, 2020FAU School of Architecture student Yara Zbib has accomplished many things during her last four years of study, the most recent being awarded the 2020 Southeast Design Fellowship by the international architecture firm HKS Inc.
“The 2020 Southeast Design Fellowship is a project in concert between HKS Inc., Carrfour Supportive Housing, and the Living Future Institute,” said Zbib. ”It's a collaboration with recovering victims of destitution to design a new, mixed-housing complex in Little Haiti.”
Zbib, who was born, raised and lives in Boca Raton, serves as president of the FAU chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students and on the Student Advisory Council. She also works as an intern at The Tamara Peacock Company Architects. Zbib is passionate about engaging environmental and socio-political activism through architectural design.
“In October, I am applying to Anhalt University in Germany to attend their M.Sc. Program on Design Research by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, a theory intensive institution,” Zbib said when asked about her future plans. “When I return, I’ll complete the six licensing exams in pursuit of licensure. Then, I’d like to experience full-time project management, and I’d love to do my part by serving on city and county boards. My biggest personal goal is to get my Ph.D within the next five years --- time will tell in what!”
