Peter Shimpeno
Sunday, Nov 22, 2020Peter Shimpeno graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Department of Visual Arts & Art History, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts & Letters, in the Fall 2010.
Shimpeno is the Creative Director of User Experience at the Trideum Corporation, a Huntsville, Alabama-based firm that specializes in providing for government and commercial organizations solutions and services in the area of test and evaluation, modeling and simulation, system analysis and information technology.
"As the Creative Director of the User Experience team, I work with an incredible team to shape the experience strategy for major projects in the commercial, civil and defense domains," Shimpeno said.
"Recent projects have focused on the complex systems used in UAV Command and Control, Cyber and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance). I have helped to shape industry leading, efficient and effective design processes that have produced innovative and original interface solutions on cutting edge hardware that improves enjoyment, accuracy and performance of the user."
Shimpeno credits the graduate program at FAU for helping him grow into a more effective visual and interactive designer, a better collaborator in a team environment and develop a deeper understanding of creating with clear intent. He also is appreciative of the "faculty and staff who supported and encouraged me along the way – as well as the incredible financial benefit of the FAU Employee Education Scholarship program" which enabled him to attend classes while working as a full time FAU employee.
Shimpeno is also thankful for the late night studying, terrific classmates and tough critiques in creating skills that were pivotal in opening the doors to a career that is challenging and interesting. "I can certainly say that the FAU graduate program got me to where I am today a place that I never expected, working with some of the smartest and creative folks on some of the most advanced and complex technologies in the world."
