A multi-disciplinary FAU faculty panel will discuss women, social justice,
music, and visual arts in Caribbean literature and the arts, that reflect
pressing gender, economic, and social issues of the region, including
South Florida communities. FAU’s Cantemos choral ensemble will present
Caribbean music.

Talks and a panel discussion exploring aspects of decolonization,
headlined by artist and activist Bree Newsome (pictured above)
who in 2015 removed the Confederate flag from the
South Carolina Statehouse.

This symposium brings together scholars from FAU and
other Florida institutions to examine and discuss decolonization.
This event expands upon the discussion begun at FSU, where the exhibition,
Decolonizing Refinement: Contemporary Pursuits in the Art of
Edouard Duval-Carrié was originally presented.
